This poem was inspired by my love for Netflix's She-Ra and the Princesses of Power which is an animated children's television show that takes place on the planet of Etheria. A young girl named Adora discovers that she can summon and transform into the godly She-Ra, the Warrior Princess of Power. She and her cosmic-powered friends fight to save their planet from being conquered by the evil Horde army.
One of the themes in She-Ra is the power of love. Love is what drives the characters in their fight against evil. The main cast learns what it means to be there for each other and that sometimes, we can lose ourselves when we feel alone. This show reminds me that sometimes love is something that we must fight for.
Etheria to me is a vision of the world I see myself growing old in. A world where anyone can be their true self regardless of gender, who they love, or what they look like. A world full of magic and hope and light. A world where friendships can stand the test of time, even after being tested severely. A world where people can change for the better and own up to their mistakes. I want to be a part of creating a world like that.
